Stay Fit and Festive: Embracing Fitness during the Festive Season

The holiday season is upon us, bringing joy, celebration, and, let's be honest, an abundance of delicious treats. While it's tempting, and totally okay, to indulge in the festive feasts and cozy up on the couch, also staying active during the Christmas season can do wonders for your physical and mental well-being.

staying fit for the holidays

Let's explore some festive fitness activities to keep moving and make the most of this joyful time.

Festive Workouts:
  • Turn your workout routine into a festive affair. Create a holiday-themed workout playlist, throw on some holiday colours, or add Christmas decor to workout space.

With a bit of planning and a positive mindset, you can maintain an active lifestyle during the holidays. Establish realistic goals, plan your schedule and embrace the power of short, high-intensity workouts .

Winter Wonderland Walks:
  • Take advantage of the winter wonderland around you. Whether you're blessed with snow-covered landscapes or enjoying milder temperatures, bundle up and go for a brisk walk. Invite family or friends to join you, turning it into a social and active gathering.

Outdoor Activities:
  • Embrace the winter season with outdoor activities. Whether it's ice skating, sledding, or building a snowman, these activities provide a full-body workout.

Christmas-themed Classes/Challenges:
  • Explore holiday-themed fitness classes or challenges that are being put on locally or virtually.

My 21 Days of Fitmas challenge is happening in our wellness hub, starting December 4th. Follow a 5 day /week, three week fitness (or movement) calendar and be entered in a holiday giveaway!

Mall Walking and Window Shopping:
  • If the weather outside is frightful, head to the local mall for some indoor walking. Turn your stroll into a festive experience by admiring holiday decorations, doing some window shopping, and enjoying the cheerful or chaotic, however you see it, ambiance.

The Christmas season is a time for joy, togetherness, and gratitude. By staying active, you not only prioritize your health but also create lasting memories filled with the warmth of the season. Whether it's dancing to holiday tunes, lacing up those skates, or exploring winter landscapes, find the balance that allows you to soak up the joys of the season while keeping your body and mind active and energized. Cheers to festive fitness and a wonderful holiday season!
